Bit of advice & Rant - BT!

Hiya All,

I was just after a bit of advice really.

We are currently with BT for our phone line (We dont use the house phone as we have enough minutes on our mobiles) so we basically pay BT for the line rental (We need a line for broadband).

Last months bill came in at roughly £16 odd. Upon looking at the bill, BT are charging us for Caller ID display aswell as a charge for 1571. My partner rang them up on 11th April, and spoke to a lady (we have the details down of who he spoke to, when ect!) and she said that our next bill will be slightly cheaper as she will re-fund this £3.48 charge and she would take this service of our account. This months bill has arrived, and they havent refunded the £3.48 or cancelled the service, so I have another bill in at £16 odd!

Am I within my rights to pay the bill, MINUS both the £3.48 charges? I dont want to pay it because I feel I am not at fault, but then again I dont want to get cut off.

I know some people may say 'Its only £3.48' but its the principle of the whole thing, not the cost!

Any advice is greatly appreciated!
So much for 'Money Saving' ;)

Personally I would pay the bill and then dispute it, like many large organisations the left hand is not connected to the right hand and by not paying in full, whilst morally justified, may involve you in really more trouble than it is worth

What I would do though is write, using pen, paper & ink and not the 'phone. The address is probably on the phone bill

I have found over the years that phone calls & e-mails are often forgotten [or ignored], but the annoying thing for a company is a letter is logged in & just sits around pestering until answered
