Solar Indoor Lighting while away

Looking at getting some solar indoor lighting for when I am away on holiday.
Anyone use them and can advise?
How bright are they compared to household bulbs?
Can you set them to come on for a few hours each night only rather than all the time once it's dark?
Any recommendations please?
Thanks.

The ones I've seen seem to operate on the 'dusk to dawn' principle. I've not seen them with timers on as yet. Though I do have two in the garden that have an infrared sensor on them so they only come on at night and only when there is movement.
Also, I have tried my luck with solar indoor christmas lights and have found that I can't get them to recharge very well indoors, even if I put the solar panel near the window. In fact I have decided recently to put them in a tree in the garden and this has improved things dramatically. They now come on at dusk and seem to twinkle away until the early hours of the morning and they remain bright throughout. When I had them indoors, using a location close to the window to recharge them, they didn't last an hour before dimming.
I have concluded that the panel, for some reason, does better at recharging when it's outdoors. I'm not sure if the glass in the windows affects the recharging process when the panel is indoors?
Would be interested to hear other peoples views on this.0
