A little bit of help please......

Hello.

I just need a little guidance.

I am 29 weeks pregnant and have just split up from my boyfriend. I'm not working and was relying on him as he is working.

What am I entitled to now?

Basically, we live in a house rent free (his dad owns the house and he doesn't live there) and its a bit awkward at the moment, so I need to move out asap. I don't have any friends or family to stop with (my parents live in a one bedroomed flat and my brother has children) and I am a bit stuck and panicking as to what to do!

I just want to get myself sorted for when my daughter arrives the end of July. :(

You should get yourself down to the local council offices and have a chat with them and see if they can help with the housing situation. They should have a lot of info for you on any benefits or grants you would be entitled to and what they can do to help. You should be a priority, as you are a soon-to-be single parent with nowhere else to go.

Sorry that you are having to deal with this while pregnant. I hope the pregnancy continues well and you can get things in order before your DD arrives in July! *hugs*

Benefit wise, it would be income support, child tax credits and child benefit once the baby is here. Oh and the £500 surestart grant.

For now, I can't remember when in the preganancy you are able to claim IS but you can claim it for a while before the baby is born.

You can also, if you haven't already done so (again, I don't know when you can) the Health in Pregnancy grant.

And I agree, you need to see the council, or the local agency that deals with social housing. They will let you know your different options.
