What to do with an old gas cooker

Hello there folks,
Can anyone tell me where to get rid of an old gas cooker (not freecycle because it is revolting from lack of cleaning by the previous owner) in Bournemouth? Am I going to have to take it to the tip? I called the council and they said it would cost £40 which I am not willing to pay...
Thanks!

Sounds like the tip might be your best option. You could always offer it on freecycle and state it needs a very good clean?0

Scrap man.
Why not let someone else decide that it is too dirty to clean on freecycle, Just say filthy oven its yours if you want to clean it.0 -
Why not stop one of those open -top scrap trucks you see on the roads,he will take it - no charge. Its worth money to them.I've done it.0

£40, crikey, what council is that? Mine charged me £12 to get rid of the disgusting, filthy old cooker left by the previous owner's of my house last year. Plus for that fee, you can have up to 4 household items taken away. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Try Dorset Reclaim - they take away old furniture and appliances etc and then re use for people on low incomes - HTH0

Hi guys,
Thanks for the replies.
To the freecycle replies - it's not just the filth (though it is so thick with grease that my hand stuck to it), it might not work and it's missing all of those bits that go on the top.
It's Bournemouth council but it's not their charges - they don't offer the service, but they recommend another company who charge that to pick up up to 3 items.
I really wish I could give it to someone who would use it...0 -
How can you expect someone to be able to use it if all the top fittings are missing.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
