Unexpected credit balance

All

I have a sharedealing account with Selftrade that shows an incorrect cash balance of >£20K. This is a complete surprise to me as I've never deposited such amount with them.

I'm sure that you all can guess my question.

Can I LEGALLY get my hands on this money ?
If so, could I place it on deposit with another institution until Selftrade notice their error.

I expect the answer to be No, but am hoping there is a glimmer of hope that I won't be breaking any laws.

TIA
Gary

No you cannot legally claim it as yours.

Im not familiar with selftrade directly but is it possible it is a dealing credit rather than cash balance. They may have given you a dealing credit based on value of any stock you are currently holding?

    Troll much?
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.
  • Gary, Gary, Gary, another person on a wind up are you. Try asking the police or a lawyer what their opinion on such an action as you are looking to undertake.
