Where to buy Printer cartridges

I Have a Dell 946 all in one printer, costs a small fortune to run, black cartridge usually around £20 from Dell, I've tried refill from people like cartdidge world etc, but have always had problems with them after, looked at other sites Tonik etc and don't seem to be a lot cheaper than Dell. Does anyone have experience with buying compatibles for Dell at a sensible price or should I look for different printer make, if so i need colour and scanner/copier, thanks

Had the same trouble with Epson - nothing came up to the standards of their own cartridges and paper - most were rubbish in comparison.
Finally came across www.7dayshop.com and tried their own-brand cartridges and photopaper which seem to give a near-miss for a lot less. I needed to adjust the colour settings in the printer software, mainly increasing the contrast and brightness settings and reducing the magenta, so you may need to do a few test-prints to get things right.0
