Try using the XP drivers this way.

Uninstall any previous installations for the printer
Locate the installation file (setup.exe or install.exe etc).
    Right click on it.
    Click on Properties
    Click on Compatability
Tick the box marked "Run this program in compatability mode for"
Choose Windows XP Service Pack 2
    Click all the way out.

    Run the file

It usually works (except for my trusty old scanner !!!)

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Just get a black & white laser printer, lower running costs (cost of ownership). Suggest the Brother range. Do you NEED colour? Colour photos are cheaper from high street shop, get then printed while you shop.

I agree, though I'd recommend the Kyocera FS-1100 laser. My dad just bought one based on my comparison of its spec with other similarly priced models from Samsung and HP and I'm really impressed with it. I'm also doing well with a 2002-vintage Samsung ML-1250, but their current models don't seem to be as good as it, let alone the FS-1100.
