Thanks. That is reassuring0

I'll add this is the second time I've had a final warning letter, due to me not sending the scanner back quick enough, my fault, nothing ever came of it.
I definitely wouldn't bother with this kind of survey participation again, too much effort, too many phone calls including some after 9pm at night, just not worth it!:hello:0 -
I too have had the letter today. Six months after sending it back. I have been a panicked all night as I literally chucked the post office receipt two weeks ago when having a sort out as we moved house. Please help as I have frantically been searching this all night and found other cases. I tried to phone but ended up going round and round pressing three on the automated menu. This is going to cause a lot of trouble at home, as my husband warned me against joining it. If only these kind of companies got fined for sending letters out like this. I remember texting them when I sent it so I could find the date from my phone records, and I know the post office I sent it from. If I manage to find the date and I have the address do post offices have records so I could prove I sent it without the receipt. I am worried sick.0

I would try to get some sleep if i were you. I think its a scam, they dont have a leg to stand on. It is not right that companies can worry people like this. I hope they get their just desserts.0 -
So you contract someone to deliver their scanner back to them and they don't now their either asking for the scanner or cash alternative and thats harassment.
You lost their scanner.0 -
Simon do you work for these fraudsters. We all sent the scanner back six months ago and have lost the receipt or in my case thrown it away. On the life of my child the scanner was returned to them. It's like they have waited so long as the probability of people having proof of postage will be much less six months down the line. I am just wondering if my post office will have it recorded on their computer and I can have access to this information without the receipt,0

In the same situation...returned months ago. It does feel like a glitch in their system - not the only one given emails are not replied to and their phone system doesn't work. If we all keep updating with any replies here, it will help build a better picture. Any legal action would be based on a balance of probabilities, and why would so many people not return them all together?
Nielsen are not legally harassing anyone unless they're reported to the police and a course of conduct is established - I think. It is unpleasant, unreasonable and makes me feel like a criminal.
Hang in there fellow ex-scanners!0 -

Update : I just phoned Nielsen and they confirmed that some of their ex customers were sent these letters by mistake and to ignore the letter as the scanner had actually reached them. they apologized. So, SimonSays, you were saying?0

Hope the below stops the stress:
We are very sorry but the letter you received last week titled,'Final Notice' was unfortunately sent to you in error.
You should not have been sent this letter and we are extremely sorry that this was sent to you and for any upset the content may have caused.
We do realise that you do not have any outstanding equipment so please do disregard the letter's content entirely.
This letter was sent out in error because of an unfortunate system problem but we can assure you this problem has now been rectified and will not be repeated.
Once again we are very sorry indeed for any upset caused and hope you can accept our very sincere apologies for this unfortunate error.
Kind Regards
The Nielsen Team0
