any good tips for my dad, he has diabetis and is also a insomniac,so he likes to go to bed with a hot drink.
his fav tipple used to be horlicks or ovaltine, but these are now out of the question due to the very high sugar content (even in the low cal types). ???

Hot skimmed milk with a slug a cheap whiskey is the answer. Very soothing, comforting and sleep inducing. Tell him to try it and see what I mean.
Cheers

Milky decaff coffee?
FiL is also diabetic, think he is still on the ovaltiney things, using the ones you make with hot water.
Failing that, would cocoa with a minimal amount of sugar be palatable? Tho' the caffeine content may be quite high in that.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

have you tried making proper hot chocolate the french way. A few squares of 70% or more cocoa chocolate, melt it gently in a pan or the microwave, then add the milk and whisk it. you could sweeten it with canderel or some such sweetener.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
