I have finally got the date for my DLA appeal.
This has been going on since April 2008, when i made my original claim, it was turned down, so i asked them to look at it again, they did and still turned down. Then they seemed to completely lose the plot, as CAB asked them to send to appeal, we filled in the form, then got a letter saying they r looking at it again, which we didnt want, this seemed to happen a few times, until eventually in March this year it finally got sent to the appeals dept. CAB thinks we should put in a complaint.
Anyway i have ME/CFS, spinal problems(surgery 2 yrs ago),which also causes leg pain and numbness, urinary incontinence (surgery 1 yr ago, which didnt work), depression. My dr supplied a letter stating all of this and that i have frequent falls and periods when i cannot get out of bed, but they seemed to have ignored this!!
So here we are over a year since the original claim still waiting. The date is 18th June.
Does anyone have any tips or advice on how best to proceed and how to present things at the tribunal. I do have CAB attending with me, but just wondered if anyone could offer any advise.
thanks

Be yourself, answer all questions as fully and honestly as possible and dont worry too much beforehand, collect as much additional evidence that you can to submit to the appeal form everyone involved in you care/health professionals.
Worrying is a waste of energy that you could be using elsewhere and over 50% of appeals are succesessful, there is further prosesses you can use if your appeal fails and you can aways claim again if your condition worsens so the appeal wont be the end of the prosess if you fail.
I hope your appeal goes well and that you get the award you expect.0 -
Hi, Went to an appeal early April and the panel decided to send out an EMP then set a new date, no word yet, but got the doctors report and very worryingly at the end they wrote they felt the mobility needs had been overstated.this is so so so not the case, we filled in the form in total honesty and said that some days were better than others, I feel the claim has been turned down before a new tribunal date is even set, don't know what to do!
The claim was for my husband who used to get mrc for 5 years up until last year0 -

good luck ...i had some friends write a letter saying how i was and how i am now, my doctor's letter about me ( pay extra for this ) consultant surgeon medical report x 2 ( two diff surgeons) pain clinic file, hospital reports ect, private harley street doctor letter.. seems the more evident the better it is ...i.e you must be poorly then.the truth is out there ... on these pages !!0
