Getting declined and the plausible reasons

in Credit cards
as far as i was aware if you got declined for credit the company involved HAVE to give you a reason
these include
1. Not meeting internal Credit score
2. Adverse data present on CF
and i know theres a third one jsut for the life of me cant remember it.
But to not include one of these reasons and to just state that they cant offer you the service on this occasion, isnt that worthy of a complaint?

No. They don't have to give any reason at all. In fact, many choose not to.
The stuff about not meeting credit score is usually just there to add a bit extra to the letter anyway. It's their way of saying you won't make them enough profit or you're too much of a risk, but in a nicer way without going into any detail.0 -
They don't have to go into the details of their decision making, but they should give you the main reason for refusal and tell you if they used a CRA and if so which one(s).
Note that s12 of the Data Protection Act 1998 also gives you the right to require a manual review of your application to be made if it was made by automated means. Of course that's not to say they won't make the same decision again based on the same data.0
