When I was in new build apart from pointer boards, from all directions, to get people to the sites we tried various other ideas. One was asking sales staff to park their cars at various junctions where we couldn't get a pointer up easily. For these cars we bought a device that spanned the roof by fitting just inside the open windw which was closed on it. can't remeber the detaisl as a long time ago.

BUT we were inundated with complaints from everywhere so cut back on it as we were concerned about the reputation of the company.

But sorry no more information on the legality but wonder whether you should call the planning dept.

  • I too thought about using similar advertising, but after talking to friends and clients, most people find them very annoying, especially if you park a big van, or car and trailer taking up 2 parking spaces in an area were free parking is at a premium.

Sorry its probably not the advice you hoped for.

    Cheers

If the vehicle is moving then you should be ok as it is no different to having a sign written car or van but as soon as you park it up is when you could have a problem unless you are on privately owned property. A friend of mine has been to court (and fined) twice for parking (safely and not obstructing view etc) on a junction, suffice to say he has now stopped.

I am trying to work out HOW you can park safely and without obstructing the view yet still be on a junction.

Parking too close to a junction is an offence in the highway code, isn't it?

Round about/high bushes/trees set approx 20 metres back and he parked a small van upto the edge of these, there was no obstruction from any angle, I am not saying he was right because he wasn't, any advertising on juntions is distracting as you look to see what it is about and take your eyes from the road, although many of our round abouts are "sponsored" by companies and have signs on, not sure why this should be any different but it does line the Councils pockets.
