like i said i saw my bloody valentine and i wasnt charged the £1.50, the fgilm wasnt all that great in 3D anyway,
No I didn't get charged extra either but I was just pondering on whether the charge was to cover the price of providing disposable glasses at each screening.
You're right film was dire - if it hadn't been 3D I prob wouldn't have seen it at all.0 -
Its been terrible for ages. Frequent incorrect ratios. The tuesday Classic films often have sound drop outs. Torn seats. Theres no competition for them in Ipswich. Something they are fully aware off.0

Tozer, my mentioning of unfair contracts and the Supply of Goods and Services Act comes from Consumer Direct. IANAL - are you?
The Cineworld complaints phone line claim that the T&Cs haven't changed and that 3D was always excluded. This simply isn't true, as any reading of the old T&Cs will show. Since no written letter was sent informing customers of the change, they are in breach of ethics, good customer relations if not the law.
And its certainly true that if you go to the Cineworld website today and signup without reading the T&Cs you won't know anything about the charge. In fact, you'll have been mislead into believing 3D films are included by the on-page image. Of course you should read the T&Cs, but people don't. And this would count as a key fact abuot what you are purchasing that might affect your decision to purchase. Again, poor ethics and customer relations, if not breaking the law.0 -

Sorry but it is wrong then. Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 does not refer to the fairness of terms.
Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 and Unfair Terms in Consumer Contract Regulations do.
IANAL - no idea what this means sorry.0 -

To show 3D films, the cinema does have to install new projection equipment and also a new screen, which is bound to cost a bit. The glasses will also have a cost.
But let's face it, the charge is really because the film companies want to make more money. Remember they take the majority of your ticket price, not the cinema. I'm sure they are taking a premium price from the cinema on such films.0 -
basically yes it is a rip off. all the prices for everything are going up at the moment and it is a rip off but showcase &cineworld cinema are just taking the mic0

Yes, I was there tonight and got asked for £1.50 - my friend had 2 pairs of glasses on him for a film that he watched before (and paid the £1.50 for him and his gf) - he said can't i just use the glasses that i have already have? she said no - it cost more to show the film - Check your T&Cs - hmmmm.0

Have you thought this through? They have to pay more to the film distributor for 3D films, so it costs the cinema more to let you into a 3D film. If they don't put on this surcharge for a few select films, they will instead put up the cost of the card to recover their lost revenue.0
