Strange Ebay / Paypal Problem !

Hi all
I sold an old phone last week on ebay. Buyer has completed checkout and paid via paypal. Shipping address requested matches Ebay and Paypal, as does the name, but the email addresses differ.
However I emailed the guy on the email address the PayPal payment was received from (to let him know when I would ship it - note UK address) but my email was bounced saying the address doesnt exist.
Strange I thought, as the funds are in my PayPal account and not pending - payment is completed and the screen says it is ok to post the item.
So I forwarded the payment receipt email on to PayPal, advised of my concern at the email address not existing and they have come back saying its a phishing scam
I'm pretty confused - does this mean the guy has perhaps paid using a dodgy credit card or something , it all seemed pretty legit, considering even PayPal were saying so.
Any thoughts ? I have not shipped the item as yet (only £23 value but still...)

I have 3 Ebay accounts all with their own email accounts and my Paypal account also has a totally different email account.

Wow, I thought PP had stopped saying every email you forwarded to them was a spoof.
Did you get his email address from the email, or the payment in your account? My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Just to clarify, my OP wasnt the clearest.
Ebay auction end email has one email address, PayPal payment confirmation has a differing email address.
The name and residential address quoted on both match up.
The email address from which the PayPal payment came from doesnt exist - my emails to it just get bounced back.
Strange one aint it !
I tried to call PayPal, but keeping in line with the whole online, 247 thing, they are closed lol0 -
Right.
First off... ignore the ebay email address.
Does the email address show in your paypal payment, in your account? Is that the same one as on the payment email? My TV is broken!

Hi Fay,
Payment shows as an instant payment and the persons name in my Paypal account, when I click for details it shows the email address that was included in the Paypal payment confirmation email..... but its an email address that doesnt exist.... strange.
All this trouble for a £23 phone... it was easier selling a £1400 Mexico holiday a couple of years ago

Are you sure the email address that you are sending to does not exist? or is it simply bouncing back your emails?
I used to send confirmation of dispatch emails for each book sold on Amazon, Yahoo email accounts always used to bounce my emails back - they didn't like the name of my email account.
Have you tried contacting the buyer via the Ebay account email, just because there are different email addresses associated with their Ebay account and Paypal account doesn't necessarily mean anything suspicious.
The names and addresses tie up, so it sounds legit to me. Surely you are covered if you send to the address in the Paypal notification to you.
