Receiving the CC (Secure Post?)

Do the cc companies(barclaycard) send your card via the standard post or secure method(i.e. courier)? Was wondering since i got an email saying that my card its on its way last week but i have yet to receive it. I hope its not courier because i'm at work everyday and they cannot get access to my mailbox to leave me a card unless i buzz them in.

Back in the days the CC i applied for came through standard though these days my bank cards etc. require a courier. so any ideas?

thanks in advance

Most cards require activation before transactions will be authorised, so its far less common for them to be despatched by courier or disguised mail. That said, I think some issuers ask on the app form if you share a mailbox - they will probably send them by secure/disguised post. Also, issuers may maintain a list of high risk areas/postcodes which they will take extra care despatching too.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

Some cards still use the courier (like passport service do) - for instance HSBC sent my Plus card using this service but on my second account it came through royal mail..... I just assumed it was because the Plus card has a cheque guarantee thing but seems that they decide dependant upon your postal code.

Remember there is a fraud prevention agency called Synectics Solutions that record data of all houses that state they have had things lost in the post! i.e. fraud cases etc where people order goods from catalogue and the driver leaves out back for the homeowner to ring and say I never got it when he did get it!

I see. I didnt know that was the role of Synectics Solutions. So i take it, the house would become black listed

Nop, there is no such 'legal' thing as a blacklist but yes, indirectly you would fail credit scores for catalogues and the like.

Barclaycard send their cards by courier, but you don't have to sign for them.

They just put it through the letterbox and record the date and time.

thanks underground, though do you know whether they redeliver if they can't get access to the building? Do they keep trying or deliver on saturday?

I called barclays and well the indian call centre wasn't very helpful, saying i should wait till the end of the week if i dont receive it by then then call them so they will cancel the card and send out another one.

They deliver every day of the week, I had one through the door on a Sunday once, I was most surprised!

I couldn't say if they attempt re-delivery, I've always just received mine, don't know if it was 1st, 2nd, 3rd attempt (I live in a contained block with entry door, assume you do too?).

I'm sure if you can't get the card delivered to your home they will arrange for you to pick it up from your local Barclays branch (that's just a guess BTW!)
