BT line rental

I'm moving home soon, and will want home phone & broadband at the new place.
I currently have a BT line, and can get this moved without charge, but would be tied to a 12 month contract.
There are phone & broadband providers out there that say they include line rental in their package - should I go for one of these, and does that mean I don't need the BT line rental?
02 sound good for broadband - do I need a BT landline for this?
Sorry if these questions sound rather basic, but the line rental / packages thing is one thing I just can't get my head round!

You need a BT landline for any broadband service (Virgin Media is the only exception, being a cable service). But you don't have to take your line rental from BT.
O2 do not do line rental, so you'll still need line rental from someone if you go with them.
All suppliers charge much the same for line rental. However if you're moving then you'll need to get the line installed by someone and if BT will do it for nothing then you'll not get a better deal than that-all they ask in return is that you take the 12m line rental.
The basic BT packages include free weekend or weekend and evening calls. No free lunch, and no free laptop

The post office you can have the line without bt, but can be complex if faults occur. Virgin offer a good service, but you have to watch the bills sometimes0

Thanks guys. I'll go ahead with the BT line rental and sort something out with O2 for my broadband. Cheers.0

Sky do line installation, sometimes free. You need to ring them and haggle.
Sky, Sky talk (free weekend and evening calls) and broadband for £16.50 per month. Line rental with Sky is
£10.00 per month.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
