I want to set one up with barclays, the account is called Young person's account. I was wondering will there be any charges? I plan to go into the branch tomorrow and set it up. How long will it take?
Any tips or advice?
Thanks

Hello flyp
I'll move your thread to the 'Budgeting & Bank Accounts' board.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

There won't be any fees, as it's not a 'fee paying' account.
The account will be set up within 3-5 working days.0 -
thanks
so no point me taking money for me to put in the account, right?
Edit: do i have to make an appoitment or just go straight in?0 -

Take money with you, as you need an opening deposit.
Out of curiosity, why choose Barclays for your 'teenager bank account'? Their interest rate is not as good as other banks. I would recommend LTSB under 19's account, as it has a better interest rate than Barclays. ttp://www.lloydstsb.com/current_accounts/under_19s_account.asp0 -
with the intrest plan to give it to charity, so dont really care about it. But may consider LTSB now.
Edit: Do you have any other recomendations?0 -
If you're planning on giving it to charity, then presumably the higher the interest rate the better, as you'll have more to give.
Or am I missing something here?0 -
no your not, do i get a debit card with ltsb?0
