page numbering

I'm numbering a large word doc but when i get to page 499 the numbering continues at 3 
Any ideas please?

do you have a section break at this point? If so check that you haven't got it to start numbering again from that point (can start numbering from any specified number). On page 499 or 500 (wherever it starts going wrong again) go to Insert > Page Numbers There should be an option on one of the tabs there to continue numbering from previous. Sorry, I don't know what version of word you are using and I dont have word installed here so just doing this from memory, but should get you more or less to the right place.0
