Learner drivers age.
I have heard from several of my friends of my daughter that new learner drivers have to wait till they are 18 to pass their test if they were born in 1992. I can't find any reference to this on DVLA or Direct.gov.
Anyone shed any light on this because she has turned 17 yesterday and had her first lesson today but the instructor didn't say anything about it. :rolleyes:

There was talk of it as my son was worried as it would affect him, but I've seen nothing recently . My son passed his theory test recently when he was 17 and 3 weeks old, he is now waiting for his practical test in a bout 6 weeks time when he will be 17 and 4 months.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. This is basically a rumour that comes around every year. A few years ago, it was 1990, then 1992, now 1992. It is all a load of rubbish rumours that people make up.0

Listen to the instructor - he wouldn't have said anything because there is actuallly nothing to say. Neither the driving age nor the test age have changed. There are likely to be a number of significant changes to the actual driving test within the next couple of years but there are no plans to change any of the ages.
My wife is a driving instructor btw:D www.lynnsom.co.uk - some useful information and links within the website - hope this doesn't contravene forum rules - if it does I will remove the link0 -
This rumour was around when I was learning to drive at 17... I'm 23 now and have heard from all my friends and siblings too!0

Thank you all - that has put our mind at rest now. She was panicking about now being able to drive herself around on her own for another year (providing of course that she passes
)
