MSN / microphone problem

Hi, I've just installed a PCLine webcam with built in microphone. The webcam is working fine but when we try to send voice clips on MSN (have the most uptodate version) it says "your voice clip was not sent because no sound was detected in the recording".

I've done the hardware test in the sound devices bit on control panel and I recorded my voice fine and could hear it playing back.

Can anyone help? Thanks

Check your mic channel isn't muted.

Double click the Speaker icon by the PCs Clock and then, Options,
Properties select Recording, now see if Mic is Muted, also I would suggest
that whilst there just click on Options Advanced Controls, Now click the advanced
button and then click Mic Boost 1.

Then close all windows and try.

Thanks, i've done that - the mic was on mute. We can now record voice clips - the person we tried with at the other end though says they can only hear a buzzing noise - maybe that's because there's something wrong with their settings?

On the recordings control box on the mic box the select box at the bottom now has a tick in it - does that sound right?

    Thanks for your help
