Is this an unreasonable question?

I need a car radiator, I want a new one, and a decent make, as I don't want to do it twice, so I've asked
"Hi
what make is the radiator?
Thanks"
to two or three sellers on ebay. Prices are similar, to within a few pounds.
First answer back
"Hi, the make is Nissens. Thanks." (which is a good make, so it's on the possible list.)
Second answer
"sorry i dont know you i am not willing to tell any member where i get my radiators from"
Would you fit something to your car if a seller refuses to tell you about it, or is it normal practice?

Hmmm, I think you've found yourself a paranoid seller. I understand them trying to protect their 'sources' but telling you the make isn't going to give that away.
I'd just find another seller tbh, its not worth it.2 angels in heaven :A0 -
it may just be the way that yuo worded the question that made them think that you wanyt to steal there business! maybe if you asked "is this a nissens or lucas or ferodo rad" they may not be as defensiev.0

The op has posted what question they asked , it doesn't sound that they worded it badly to me at all.
If I was the op i'd just pick a less snappy seller.2 angels in heaven :A0 -
I agree with Lisa, how could you interpret wrongly what the OP asked?
Obviously the seller has something to hide, otherwise he would tell you the make. It will be probably rubbish (homemade in mum's shed).0
