You want go far wrong with https://www.18185.co.uk Just 4p connection and 0.5p a minute if you call from a BT landline.0 -

for long calls to the US & Canada, I would recommend Teletop - calls work out 5p each (plus normal UK rate to a London access number, 5½p upto an hour on BT). Works out 10½p a call for upto an hour.
Or you could go VOIP like I recently did, and get free unlimited calls to the US & Canada (provided you top up just under a tenner every 4 months).

Its only 5.5p at E&W .If you were ringing at Peak rate it would be 5p connection on Teletop and 3p a minute on BT.A lot more expensive then 18185.0 -
If you anticipate making LOTS of calls to Canada/USA you may consider having Toucan as your CPS provider.
We do this, and then for a payment of £9.99 a month we get unlimited calls to Canada/USA. We are still able to use 1899 etc for national calls, and we did not have to commit to any other service with Toucan other than the international calls package.
In addition, landline calls with Toucan are free at weekends.0 -

We do this, and then for a payment of £9.99 a month we get unlimited calls to Canada/USA.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
