If i have a owners Account Numbers for Gas, Electric, Telephone.

Can i find out what they are paying?

Solicitor has provided them to me and wondered if you can find it out on the 'switch' websites of the providers direct

Its for the property im in the process of buying you see

Why don't you ask the Vendor directly? Bear in mind that you need to wait a month or until the first bill to be able to switch supplier.

I think we had to complete a form stating what our electricity/gas bills were.

The problem though when you do ask this is that you don't know what their usage is - I mean they could like it cooler than you would or alternatively like liking in the tropics so any figures they give you would be based on a personal usage.

Even if I have the account numbers for their bills. When I have the keys, do i still need to contact their current suppliers.

I thought i could contact who i want to be with EDF(london energy) direct or thru switching immediately.

once you have the keys take a meter reading of both meters and you can start a change of supplier straight away. you might have to pay up untill the change but that might only be for 6 weeks if it goes smoothly.

Can i use the switch sites that give the £12cashback.

go via them straight away to apply to the new supplier?

wouldnt do anything untill you are actually the owner of the house. then i dont see why you cant use any of the switch sites to change supplier.

my mil is moving house and was supposed to move last week but it was put off for a fortnight. the people moving into her house have tried to change everything from phone gas elec etc but as they not the legal owners yet they cant do anything untill they offically own the house.
