I use Asda smart price soap powder (as in for washing machines) works just as well as dish washer powder. I use white vinegar instead of rinse aid, as a result my glasses are no longer cloudy.
I hadn't found an alternative to salt but as a result of this thread I now know what I am looking for. Thanks.0 -
Even if you buy your dishwasher salt from a 'cheap' supermarket like Lidl or Netto it is much cheaper (up to half price) than buying it from Tescos.
Or look in the bargain rack at your supermarket. They quite often have taped up bags with nothing missing from them for up to half price. Seeing as the stuff always goes straight in the machine as soon as I get home I don't notice the dodgy packaging....0 -
I've usually found the best way to find out how hard your water is, is to phone up your water company and ask. They are usually very helpful and tell you the hardness of your water as a number, then referring to dishwasher instructions figure out if you need to add salt.0
