we have just moved house and managed to get our broadband back up and running. But when someone calls the house, the connection is lost and we have to reconnect. It was never like this before.
The guys who lived here before set up his own extension to the upstairs computer room - could that be why the connection keeps cutting out ???

Do all telephone points have a microfilter?
What type of extension is it - the type from Argos that just plugs into the master socket or one that's hard-wired?0 -

Thanks for your reply. What s a micro filter ?
He has used a wire that goes from the master socket through the house to the upstairs room. At the moment, we hae an adapter in to the main socket which connects sky and the telephone, then we are plugging in the broadband cable.0 -

It used to plug in both your telephone and computer to one socket. This in turn lets you make and receive calls while using the computer.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

The filters seperate the frequency bands used by DSL services from those of other devices attached to your telephone line. There are basically two ways to use these things; either fit one to every device in the house, or plug a single micro-filter into the master socket and connect everything through that.0

ps, need a microfilter on every single phone socket in the house.
most people use this setup:
main line>Phonesocket(1)>microfilter>telephone & PC (modem/router)
>phonesocket(2)>microfilter>telephone
>phonesocket(3)>microfilter>telephone
OR (alternative, but most people dont use this format because it requires wireing):
main line>hard-wired microfilter---\/
