Where to buy a curtain pole for a bay window without spending a mint!

Hi guys,
I've done a quick google and they're all turning up very expensive! We've just got our first place and have come to the cheapest option being curtains, however most of the new designs are for curtain poles and not for tracks as have come with the house.
Any clues on places to look that we can get away with on a budget? Any help greatly appreciated.
Would try Ikea but I dont remember seeing anything other than straight curtain poles rather than ones that'll go round a bay window.
Cheers

I found one in Argos for around £50 (sorry not allowed to post a link, but I found it by searching 'bay window'). But due to how its put together, you need 4 curtains not 2 (there are knob things at the join of each bay so you need 1 curtain for each bay and 2 for the central part of the window if that makes sense). Haven't bought it so not sure if it's any good.0

Hi
We're having the same issue in our new house, and this is the cheapest we have found so far is through Dunelm Mill as I'm a new user I'm not allowed to post a link but do a Google search and you'll find it.
Would love to hear from anyone who can find cheaper or has got an innovative solution to the bay pole problem!!0 -
I'm currently having a poke on ebay and not turning up anything great. I'll let you know if I do...0

Yes I know exactly what you mean. I made some out of 3M lengths of copper pipe and bent them with a pipe bender. So, if you know anyone with a bender, it's quite easily done. I then used some wardrobe rail brackets to attach it to the wall. Oh and to tidy the ends of the pipe, I just placed some end feed stop ends over it.0

I love that idea! might be worth a squiz at B&Q for some cheapo chrome pipe....0

Or do what I intend to do, and paint it with something like silver Hammerite. The other thing is, I think B&Q only sell the chrome plated copper pipe in 2M lengths and you will pay a premium over the standard copper pipe. I bought a bundle of 10x3M lengths of pipe a couple of months ago for 36 odd quid so might actually make curtain poles for all the windows (2 are bay) as I currently only have venetian blinds.0 -
Wilkinsons do an adjustable bay window pole, which may be ok. We looked at this but it wasn't long enough for our bay! http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/invt/0232232 I've just realised it says out of stock, but they had them in my local store.0

A pole for a bay window was my holy grail but I finally gave up in favour of a corded track.
From memory, the only place I found a pole for a bay at a decent price was Next. I didn't buy it as there was something in the description about not being suitable for heavy curtains, and with lined double width curtains I didn't fancy the ceiling coming down!0 -

Hammerite takes WEEKS to get hard enough to hang curtains on. If you try it before it's hard, the rings will sink into the paint. I would not use Hammerite in any case. It might have been ok in it's day (but I'm not convinced), but there are better things now.
Dan, you are looking at curtains with a man's eye. (I do too). Curtains are one of those things that are inherently expensive, including the fittings. That's life I'm afraid.0 -
I think we are going to have to get one made to measure. The Next one isnt long enough for our bay window. We've had a track for the last 10 years thats been nothing but trouble. In our bedroom we got away with wooden venetian blinds from Ikea instead of a curtain.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0
