carers allowence can daughter claim for me

i just wondered if anyone can let me know if my daughter can claim carers allowence for me ..we both live together.she is 22 years old and claims income support ,i think she gets aprox £23 disability premiun as well..i get middle care and low mobility dla plus income support..most of my council tax and rent is paid..will she be able to claim carers for me and if so will they take it off her income support or would she be a bit better off by claiming.....i also wondered if she claims carers would any of us need to pay any extra towards the tax/rent..thankyou

Yes your daughter can claim carer's for you. Even though she claims income support she should still be a bit better off with a claim for carers allowance. More info here http://www.carersuk.org/Information/Financialhelp/CarersAllowance

You shouldn't have to pay any extra on rent or ct by claiming carer's allowance

Thankyou for this thread and to cattie for that information,i am on DLA and income support and always believed we would be worse off if my husband claimed carers allowance but i have just phoned the helpline and been advised that even once the reductions to my income support are made we will still be about £29 a week, better off and also it gives my husband the recognition he deserves as a carer in more official terms.
