Ebay cancelled my listings-can they be reinstated?

Hi
I have been using ebay now for a few years with no problems until yesterday. I had a total of 85 items listed, which I had done over the course of the last week ( books, household and clothes), two had bids on and a few had lots of watchers.
Yesterday, whilst I was on ebay, I received an email thanking me for opening a shop - as I do not have a shop and don't want one, I was a bit surprised! Anyway, it turns out that someone had set up a shop, attached it to my account and listed one item for sale (a piece of jewellery). I emailed ebay immediately asking them to remove the shop from my account, remove the ONE item which had been listed and reimburse my fees (this one item cost over £20 to list and was charged to my account!)
Imagine my surprise this morning to find that not only was my account locked (which I had to reinstate) but that they had cancelled over 40 of my genuine listings!!!! These have disappeared and are not in my unsold items.
As this was ebay's mistake- are they able to reinstate the listings, or are they gone for good?
(Note to self - next time back up listings)
Has this happened to anyone else?
Thanks for reading!

Try live help... but your chances probably aren't too great of having them reinstated
My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
ebay will probably apologise at best
I hope for your sake they are able to reinstate them due to THEIR mistake but I wouldnt hold my breath.

I had the same thing happen on sunday evening. Except i caught it before they listed anything. I got onto live help and she closed the shop and cancelled all my items. Luckily they are still in the unsold folder. I havent had my fees refunded yet tho. Hope you get it sorted. Just to add I have always used spybot/avira and i run malwarebytes regularly and its still happened. Also i never click on links in emails.0

You should be more concerned at how the hijackers got access. Have you responded to any emails that you later 'wondered' about, or do you have an easily guessed password or poor PC security?
Best to go on over to the techie board and ask how to do a full clean, make sure you don't have a key logger or anything nasty lurking.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks for all your replies - I can't work out how they did this - I never reply to those phishing emails and always check the emails through the ebay site itself (which I access through a separate browser window and input the details myself).
I think my password was ok, but this has now been changed anyway, and we have McAfee? virus thingy on the computer.
I don't use Turbolister as I've had problems with it before, but I do use Auctiva - could this be something to do with it? But I can't see how?
I will give the live help a go as the shop is still showing on my account.
will update later if I manage to get anywhere!
Thanks!0 -
McAfee isn't highly rated - I would second a recommendation for a trip to the techie forum

Hi again
Well, I contacted Live help and I must say that things are looking up!
They removed the shop from my account and have brought back my cancelled listings - but they are all in my Unsold folder - but at least I've got them back and can relist in due course. It took over an hour altogether but at least it was better than sending emails to which you only get "copy and pasted" replies.
I will post on the techie thread later to see what they suggest, but for now, I'm off to make the dinner, very, very relieved!
From now on I will make a copy of my listings so if ebay pull the plug at least I have a back-up!
Thanks for all your advice - much appreciated!0 -
thats why i used turbo lister0

eBay do make these silly mistakes from time to time, im glad Live Help have managed to help you get back on track. Did you get the fees for the listings back? If not i would definitely chase them up as that is surely going to add up isnt it

Just to update - I have managed to get my fees back and have relisted all the cancelled items.
I also checked my Yahoo email account (following advice on another thread on here about accounts being hijacked) and found that emails had been blocked from ebay.com, ebay.co.uk and paypal.com, so I have reset that as well. And changed passwords again!
This has been quite a scary couple of days - I still can't understand how they got access - now off to the techie thread to find out how to do a full clean - fingers crossed!0
