I got a letter last week asking for recipts of items she had already seen photos or box'x or manuls for and had told her all were over a year old some 3years old and ie never kept recipts afer a year (after all who thinks there going to be a victum of a brake in) then there was the matter she asked for the NINTENDO DS LITE recipt WHICH id clearly told her a week earlyer was found! What else can i do ??? i feel she hasnt listen?? My son and i are both so upset by all this, also i had to borrow money as mine was stolen and promised to pay back with in a month, im going to the insurancers today as i wrote a letter to her reply a week ago and my brokers told me to cme in today if she hadnt rang, but would really like some advice before hand if any?

First off, sorry to hear about the theft, it is certainly a horrible and extremely stressful thing to happen to anyone. Could I also suggest you delete the other 2 identical threads you have posted?
You have an insurance broker and they are there to help you put the claim to the insurer, this is one of their major benefits. Defiantly go and see them. Loss adjusters are usualy very busy, and it is a great shame that they are not better at keeping people informed. It may be that they have sent papers to your insurer to ask a question or 10 and are awaiting a reply.
I think that you have a good understanding of why proof of ownership is required so won't bang on about that. You have provided boxes, leads, photos etc all of which should help to prove the claim. It may be that the Loss Adjuster was just trying to confirm in writing that you didn't have any further evidence of ownership.
Regards the TV, did you buy this on Ebay? Do you not have any emails saved about the transaction you could provide?
Make sure the insurer is aware that you retracted the claim for the DS LITE, maybe put a something to them in writing with a simple and clear explanation of your mistake. They should understand.
If you can find anything else, particularly recent photo's, of items then it should help.
They insurers may be questioning why you kept so much cash at home, since this is, I think you will agree, an unusually large amount to have about a house these days.
Insurers and brokers all regularly stress that clients should maintain records of ownership and most wordings will have a clause stating when proof of ownership might be required and what could suffice. Many now include advice about security. No one expects to be robbed, but it happens all the time so we should all be prepared. I keep receipts and photos stored on my PC and a web mail account.
Good luck with your claim.0 -
