In process of getting mortgage application approved
i have really bad credit and curruntly rent with my girlfriend, its all in her name at the moment and so are all the bills apart from the virgin media which is in my name
We have never applied for any credit together, i didnt go on the rental agreement and dont have a joint bank account.
however just a little worried my bad credit has been linked to her as im on the electoral role on our rental property. my credit is awful and she got a mobile contract few months ago which i cant so hopefully its all ok
she has had the mortgage approved in principal and just submitted the application. are we going to have heart brake and get turned down or if she had been linked to me would they have not even approved in principal
really worried
thanks

if the agreement in principle has been done then searches should have been carried out already which is positive.
how "secure" the aip is depends on the lender unfortunately but you should find out soon enough once the full app has been looked at.Happily an ex mortgage broker!0 -
thanks for that
thought it was just credit cards, joint bank accounts and loans that link people financially
after looking at martins advice we have kept all finances completey seperate0 -
There might be value in you applying for some limited credit in your name alone (such as a credit card from one of the rate for risk lenders such as Capital One). don't keep balances on them, just use occassionally and pay balances off in full as this will help rebuild your credit rating a bit.0

thanks for the suggestion but if im honest i really want to stay away from everything
i have bout 2 years left on my debt management plan with payplan and will start then
getting the house is massive for us and it doesnt bother me being in gf name, just the house is the main thing
once ive paid off debt i will start rebuilding then
dont want a credit card or any credit til my debts are clear
thanks for the suggestion0
