i use a vodafone pcmcia card in my laptop and use it to connect to my company server at head office
i have an icon on my screen that directs me to the server and i dial *99# to connect to the gprs service
question .... if im in america and connect to the gprs ....will the icon still work ?
i thought id have to dial a number at some point ie 0044 845 ......... etc
do you ever need to dial numbers on gprs ..... i didnt think so but am not 100% sure
thankyou in advance

Best to call customer service at Vodafone to confirm whether any settings needs to be changed to make it work - or even if it will work at all.0

on your phone somewhere you'll have settings for GPRS, voicemail etc etc. Have a flick through the manual and see where it is and check the number in there.0

hi ... no phone ... its a card with an ariel ... quite smart really
been told by voda that the *99# works worldwide ...
just need to know if thats enough0 -
I would be almost certain that it works. Make sure you check with Vodafone which networks they have GPRS roaming with - I would be certain it is both T-mobile and Cingular which are the main two. Remember some of Cingular's coverage is 850MHz so your card may not be compatible.
On another pint though, if you plan to use it a lot it will be much cheaper to use WLAN at lets say a T-Mobile hotspot in a Starbucks - easy enough to find in the States!0 -

one day i'll learn how to read.0 -
A simple analogy is that WAP is like a dial up internet connection whereas GPRS is like broadband always on connection, which also allows calls to be received while it's being used. The *99# code should therefore be all that is needed for use. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
