Booking flights with an egg visa credit card

Hi, I have an egg visa credit card which currently has a zero balance.

I am looking to book some flights but they cost more than my credit card limit.

I want to book the flights via credit rather than debit card as then I believe I am protected if the airline goes bust. Is this correct?

Does anyone know if I would be covered if I transfer enough money onto my egg card so that i have a +ive balance and then book the flights on the egg credit card and then pay the remainder of the balance off after the flights are booked?

Pay a deposit of (say) £100 on your credit card, and use other means to pay the rest. (It may even save you some money if the place you're buying from add a CC %age charge.)

Unfortunately it isn't always possible to do that, most airlines ask which method of payment is required and it is only possible to use one method.

Most require full payment as well.

Surely if you only make a part payment with a credit card, then that would be all the credit card would give you protection for anyway?

No - Section 75 doesn't work that way. As long as part of the cost has been purchased by the credit card, the whole cost is covered, regardless of which payment method is used for the balance of the payment.
