Thai Banks now charge ATM Withdrawal Fee

The Thai Bankers’ Association have recently introduced ATM cash withdrawal fees for credit and debit cards registered outside of Thailand. The fee is 150 Baht per transaction and is being phased in from April 17, 2009. Please note that this new fee is a separate addition to any fees that your home bank may already charge for overseas ATM cash withdrawals.
So if you take money out, do it in big lots rather than lots of smaller ones. 150 Baht is roughly £2.50 at the moment.

Hi,
I would like some clarification please. I have a Halifax "All in one" credit card, which I am going to balance transfer £1000 spends to my Nationwide Debit Card.
I am going to Thailand for 2 weeks and Australia for 6 weeks straight after that.
Is the cheapest option for me to use my Nationwide Debit Card in both countries? Im aware of the bank charges, so I could do one big transaction for £600 when I arrive in Bangkok, then withdraw a couple hundred each time in Oz?
Are the charges stupidly high in Oz too? Thanks0
