I've just made hot Weetabix with nothing but milk...

.....and it was vile.
Growing up when I was a kid my parents couldn't afford shed loads of milk so my weetabix (always hot NEVER cold) was made by pouring boiling water over the weetabix and adding a spash of milk and sugar to taste. I know this is odd (had some right funny looks at work when I used to make it) and I thought I'd try it the way I make it for my kids with just hot milk. Urgh it was disgusting. Going back to my old MSE ways with that one :rotfl:

    Hi there

My dad and sister always loved their weetabix done with hot water and then a splash of evaporated milk on :confused:I can still smell it now when I think about it :rotfl:-but they loved them -
For me it will always have to be ice cold milk :p

I think it was just too creamy for my tastes.

Ethansmum - I always put sugar on my kids weetabix - there's no way they'd eat it without (and trust me I tried when they were weaning!)

For me:- just enough cold milk too wet weetabix thru plus a little sugar.
Once it goes out of shape I don't like it and the smell of hot milk just turns me over....

For dog with a poorly tummy:- well soaked in warm water, no sugar!!

My husband does that with Corn Flakes, hot water with a splash of milk loads of sugar, he won't eat it any other way, looks revolting with all those soggy flakes, he gives the same reason they couldn't afford all that much milk when he was one of 4 boys growing up...

Cold milk, but not enough to make it soggy and loads of sugar for me!

I have also had weetabix buttered and with marmalade. That's quite nice too, but you do need a fair bit of butter and marmalade otherwise it's too dry.

Our dog likes weetabix too. We give it to her occasionally as a treat for breakfast. :)

Just enough cold milk to make it soggy, with perhaps some chopped fresh fruit & few teaspoonsful of low fat natural yogurt is my choice

Oh dear! Our mum used to give all ours a quick pour from the tea pot to make it soggy then some milk and sugar. Sounds awful now but never thought about it before! lol
