Organised travel companies in Thailand

Hi MoneySavers!
I'm planning on taking a trip to Oz for 2 mths at Xmas time but before that I was thinking of flying to Bangkok (or somewhere in Thailand) and staying for a week or so to do an organised tour. I'm a female travelling alone and I would much prefer to be a part of a tour.
Can anyone recommend anything? I want to see lots of sights (cities, beach and rainforest!) and my budget for the week (accomodation/travel/food) will be roughly £300.
btw: i am mainly looking for backpacker tours but if there are regular tours around the £300 budget then even better!
Thank you

I did the Northern Thailand tour with Intrepid a few years back./ very organised and varied trip.0

I would be looking on the Thorn Tree forums of Lonely Planet. Masses of experience on there.0

thanks for these helpful responses :-)0

If I was to do Thailand again, I would stay on the ko san road in bangkok. This is the main backpackers area, hotels, bars etc. Also you can book every tour you can think of along there and very reasonable prices.0

Better off organising it yourself. At that time of year, you are unlikely to be travelling alone anywhere.
You'll be using the same local transport as the UK booked tours anyway.
ocker107's advice is about right.0 -

yes i would second that...but book a decent hotel in this area. i stayed at the Viengtai just behind KSR costs about £20 pn but a reasonable 3* in the area. its is also the one of the hotel starting points used by Intrepid trips0
