Old Style Ways of Conditioning - ladies question???

How about trying just conditioner? I know lots of people with dry/curly hair use only conditioner (and occasionally shampoo - but def not every time). I believe there is enough of a detergent in conditioner to 'wash' the hair. I used to work in the Body Shop and their shampoos never used to foam up as much as high street ones - the reason being that the lather is just for show, to convince consumers that the shampoo is doing something. In reality, they chemicals that produce the lather are just drying. There is a thread about it on the health and beauty board but I am useless at links.0

Oh yes Almo the conditioner only method - if you google it there should be loads of stuff. Havnt tried it myself yet but I know for this method you must use the cheapest conditioner.
What about coconut oil if you could get it?0 -
I use olive and castor oil for both a prewash conditioner. Leave it on as long as possible, even overnight if you can. Then wash out the next day, i do put on my usual conditioner after washing, then spray with apple cider vinegar and once i have had a shower rinse it all off.
I use the same olive oil and castor oil as a once or twice a week moisturiser and have made my own nightly moisturiser a 50/50 mix of glycerin and rosewater. It does the trick for me, my house is air conditioned and it does dry the skin out.0 -
You could stop washing your hair, the natural oils would fly up and in 6-8 weeks you will have hair to die for.0

couple of teaspoons of linseed ( you can use the stuff they sell for birdseed) in a pan with a cup of water, boil till it starts to go gloopy. Allow to cool then apply to the hair, wrap in cling film and towels to keep the heat in, then wash out.
you can also use it as a leave in conditioner if you prefer.0 -
If you PM me, I will sent you a plastic bottle of olive oil.0

Could you only wash the scalp, and not use shampoo on the rest of your hair? The resultant rinse should be enough to clean but not strip the rest of the hair, then the conditioner would not have to work so hard.0

I have heard that too, Hair cleans itself. It would be ok if you are a hermit like me ( I am waiting for new knees)
When we were kids my Mum always made a Rosemary Rinse which really makes Hair Shine
Or a whole egg rubbed in for adding protein
White Vinegar is good for softening clothes so it might work on hair just pour it on wrap your head in a warm towel for 20 mins and then rinse off.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I've just been on hols to Vanuatu, where the water is really hard, and my hair became an afro. I found, by having no other choice, that just cheap moisturiser works really well as a treatment in the hair. Just like a really gooey conditioner. It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'
