Modular wardrobes on a budget - any recommendations?

Like Traveller1981, we have a run of 3 x 1m Pax (with high-gloss burgundy doors, now discontinued, but totally fab!).
We have the tall version, screwed to the wall for stability. I can't imagine taking them with us if we move (I think they would be classed as fixtures and fittings), but would definitely buy them again for a new house. In fact, I would make it one of the criteria for a new bedroom - "must accommodate Pax wardrobe system"!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -
I have the Ikea ones with mirrored doors.........I have them floor to ceiling and wall to wall in the bedroom (2 x 1metre and 1 x 500mm) - very very good quality and easy to put together.
I have 3 drawers inside both the 1metre wide wardrobes, which means 6 drawers in total and no need for separate chest of drawers.
I'd recommend them to anyone.0 -
I have just ordered Pax frames - without doors. Will I need to fix to the walls and is it possible for one person (me, female!) to build these on my own??0

It's advisable to fix them with a bit that comes with the frame to help stop it from toppling, but I've never felt the need to.
And I built ours all by myself. It took forever with all the stuff that I'd bought to put in - drawers, shelves etc. so set aside plenty of time! I needed H to help me lift the big one into position.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

space2 robes are really solid and they give a great service. They recon they started the whole modular thing off. Customer service was outstanding and it was a similar price to argos and ikea.0

I'm liking this thread because I've been thinking about Pax wardrobes.
I'm just picturing a buyer's face though if they find their new home has these big wardrobe shells left in it with no fittings doors etc. I don't think they'd be too happy?0 -
I do find it rather odd that newbies come along resurrecting old threads and extolling the virtues of some unheard of company.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0

We have moved our tall Pax wardrobes twice and they are still looking fab.0

Me too, have flagged it as spam for that reason.I do find it rather odd that newbies come along resurrecting old threads and extolling the virtues of some unheard of company.
Appreciating the other info on the thread though. I too have a pretty poor wardrobe from Argos (feels cheap, and turned out not to be deep enough for an adult shirt!) and am thinking of going for Pax next time I buy.0 -
Having built a 2meter wide pair of PAX wardrobes only last week. I can thoroughly recommend them. The job is easier with 2 people but one could do it if you are prepared for a bit of lifting.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
