New Bank Account for a teenager

Hi all,

I am looking to open a bank account, complete with debit card facility, for my 16 year old for when she starts work etc.

Any suggestions on the best bank to go to?

All help appreciated.

Deestar.

HSBC do good kids accounts but so do Yorkshire bank as you get a Maestro debit card which are better than most Solo/Electron issuing banks such as Natwest/Co-Op. Barclays and lloyds may give visa debit card too....

    Thanks never-in-doubt,

I'll take that on board and head for the HSBC first to see what they offer.

Old news. HSBC no longer Maestro/Solo but have gone over to VISA (if thats what you meant, couldn't tell if you meant YB just do them or HSBC too)

    However:

I also recommend either HSBC or Lloyds.

Sorry I did mean YB issue Maestro. HSBC now issue the full auth Visa Debit (silver card)....

all you do is say you lost it, they will then issue it with the Visa logo - much smarter card as well.....

I would get a Nationwide flexaccount and upgrade it to one with a visa debit card when she turns 18.
I have a deep burning indifference
