Paypal help, please?

I have received a message from a seller saying that they have refunded my payment as I returned the goods (by prior agreement of the seller). When I went to check my paypal account, against the refund it says 'hold placed' and the details of the transaction state:
Temporary Hold Information: This temporary hold was placed because your Direct Debit or Bank Funding payment was denied, cancelled, or refunded.The funds from this payment cannot be released until they have arrived from your bank account, which usually takes 7-9 working days.

Problem is, I have no idea what this means and I've never encountered it before. Can anyone explain, please?

It's happened to me a few times, it's nothing to worry about. I don't quite understand the logistics of it, but the money hasn't left your bank yet, that's all.
