Will Our Insurance Be Cheaper When My Bf is 'Dr'

So when my boyfriend has his PhD and he's Dr, will our insurance premiums be cheaper? I mean on home and car insurance mainly.
The only reason I ask is that our car insurance went down £50 when we became homeowners.

Yes, very likely.
Insurance is a bit of a broadbrush sometimes so at present your BF is a student and will be lumped in with all the other students for rating purposes.
It will depend a bit on what he goes on to do job wise. Post grad work in academia is seen as low risk by insurers.0 -
The job will be the deciding factor. The title of "Dr" instead of "Mr" alone won't provide any discounting (or at least it is very unlikley to).
If you managed to get cheaper car insurance when you became home owners it could be that the insurer provides a discount on that fact, beleiving homeowners to be more careful. More likley is that the house you purchased was in a postcode unit that is deemed as less risky.0 -
Nope, our insurance went up originally. Then I thought, hang on, we haven't told them we aren't renting anymore. We are technically in a worse area but luckily the homeowner thing offset that!Kavanne

:Tand if he is a medical doctor his hand writing will deterioate
Actually they all get taught to write like that. Part of initiation throughout the 5 years, they are forced to drink with the writing hand and use the non-writing hand.
Look next time when you visit your Dr. Have you noticed them rosey cheeks?Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

"The job will be the deciding factor. The title of "Dr" instead of "Mr" alone won't provide any discounting (or at least it is very unlikley to)"
The title Mr is retained for a "medical Consultant" a medical consultant deals with Medical problem etc
A "Surgical Consultant retains "the title of "Dr"
The Surgical consultant is the one that stands back and mentors the Registar to cut you up, on his way to being a consult.
Kav you fella will quailfy as a HO.......a House Officer, its the first rung so to speak, and a long time before he reaches the heights of a consultant.
But does this make his Insurance cheaper........dont see why it should but I hope it does.

He's not going to be a medical doctor, he is doing a PhD in geology!! He wants to go on to be a lecturer (so yes, low risk profession), etc. *I* want him to work for an oil company or deBeers but that'll never happen. He says he won't sell out!!Kavanne
