credit card help please

Hi Guys

I really need help - I am a teacher who had a bit of bother with a student overdraft over a year ago - I didnt pay back a min sum and they took 900 pounds off me all at once - anyway I sorted it out and paed them everything back...

I also have a student overdraft which is £800 whic I am paying off monthly...

Anyway I have been at my current place for over a year and applied to go on the electoral register 3 weeks ago - I go on in May 28th...

However, I am going to Amierca for 3months on may 28th and really need a credit card for emergencies...

I applied for a marks and spencers card last week and got rejected - I checked with experien and its because of the electoral register thing...

Can anyone help with suggesting a credit card? can i stress its only for emergencies and I wont be stupid??

Please help i go in 18days and am paniking about not having a back up source of cash incase i get stuck...

Many thanks

Louise :-)

You are leaving a bit tight if you go in just 18 days! Have you approached your bank for a CC? As you have had credit problems in the past you may only qualify for a sub-prime card like Vanquis.

I assume you're not a maths teacher then

Seriosuly though, you've left it a little late - 18 days to get a card up and running is a little soon, especially if you're considering Sub Prime.

you wont harm your score cos you'll be away for three months - so just go for them both but vanquis are slow..... barclays may say no if you're not on e/r as well.

Good Luck! Have you tried your own bank by the way? If they say no because you're not on E/R then close the account cos that's shocking - they have history on you!

By the way M&S Card is if you like a HSBC Card. They provide it for them
