UPDATE for basmic etc.
Swapped everything over, installed new OS and all seems O.K.except front usbs are not working.
Possibly mobo drivers?
Need a bit more RAM, but voltages are fine, and it seems to run about 5 degrees cooler.
I tried both the old spare (250w) and the new (500w) psu, they showed identical voltages, within 0.05v of each other, also the values are not fluctuating, previously they were low, and swinging + / - 10%. Now the max /min figures are within 0.1v.
Core = 1.65v
Vin 1 = 2.45v
+3.3 = 3.25v
+5 = 4.84v
+12 = 12.16v
-12 = -12.76v
-5 = -4.54v
+5 vcch = 5.03v
So almost definitely the motherboard, and I've learned a bit more.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Those voltaegs look perfect! If I were you, I'd use the 250w PSU if you can get away with it, purely because it will use less power than the 500w PSU!
Do the USB controllers show up in Device Manager? Most/all USB controllers show up in a new installations of XP/Vista these days. If they do show up, check you've got the front panel wired up properly.Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0 -
Re the usb's, I'd already downloaded the manual, so double checked everything was as it should be.
4 rear ports all work.
In my box of bits I had a 2x usb port bracket type thing, mounts on the rear panel and can plug into a spare set of e.g. front pins. This wouldn't work either.
From device manager
2x SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller
1x SiS PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller
1x USB Printing Support
3x USB Root Hub
But not too worried, as after some Googling, found articles saying this board had rubbish USB, and best way out was to add a 4 port PCI.
Thanks again RMove along, nothing to see.0
