Music production, like video production needs a fast machine, and NO laptop is up to the job if you are at amateur/pro level. Anyone who takes out finance on a PC or laptop is asking for trouble, the depreciation on IT equipment is worse than on a new car.

Not even a macbook pro?! I thought that was their purpose in life!:p I think something liek a dell xps with plenty of fast ram and at least 2.4Ghz dual core would be up to the task. My machine falls short when it comes to post processing so i have to bounce to audio or freeze tracks to free up more cpu cycles. As it is no matter how powerful the machine is your at the mercy of the operating system, one of the reasons i'm considering a mac but the prices are enough to make me think twice! I'm building a live rig with hardware anyway to keep things simple.

Anyway i've since signed up for the equifax and experian free trials and it turns out that everything i've been given credit for is showing up on my equifax report and not on experian which is probably why i didn't pass with Dell. The only thing on there is my bank account. Apparently i can ask the companies that did the checks to share the information with experian which i'm sure would make a big difference as i have a good record going back several years thanks to the credit union. :D

I don't know if you are interested in a Mac, if you are Apple are offering 10 months 0% credit at the moment.

Thanks. I am considering a mac as my next system. (Had no end of grief with windows but that's another story...). I need to sort out the serious discrepency between my credit ratings though. If they use experian i've got no chance!:rotfl:

My four-year old, 2.16GHz Mac Book Pro runs multiple pro video and audio applications in the field no problem whatsoever.

Try Cancom and Jigsaw 24 first, for a reconditioned one, then Micro Anvika for the same.
