Sony RDRHXD995B HDD Recorder - Refund Entitlement?

You are in the pound seat, a new unit until your old one is returned, if they choose to return it. After all, both your old unit and your loan unit will be used and their resale value would be practically the same and probably not worth the effort of swapping over.
I'm not sure how much of a deal breaker the multi-region is - I'm quite happy with region 2 as I don't generally purchase DVDs from overseas. I think that you can do the multiregion upgrade yourself for the price of a programmable ebay remote control though it may invalidate your warranty (the 970 could certainly be done this way). Try searching on the avforums website - I don't think the remotes are not that expensive.0 -
It's a straight swap so now I have a new machine (and fully dereved too!)Got it up and running last night (a lot quicker second time around although I still had to call my brother for a bit of help) and everything appears to be ok.
Don't want to risk invalidating any warranty trying to get the multi-region upgrade, just in case!
Incidentally, does anyone know whether I'll have a new 12 month warranty period for the new machine or will it still be 12 months fom the original purchase date?0 -

Strictly speaking, the warranty runs from the time of original purchase, but you still have the SoGA to fall back on.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

Apologies for my previous post - I only scan read your post (incorrectly!). I'd assumed the new one was a lone item.
I agree with you, probably not worth invalidating the warranty for the first 12mths - afterwards, you can take the plunge if you choose to.0
