Highest Wattage Lightbulbs.

I like room's bright and am wondering what is the HIGHEST Wattage available for a lightbulb in Bayonet Cap Form - and where do I buy this from? (150 Watt is getting a bit passe!)

    Why not try these?

I use them as I suffer from SAD, brightest bulbs I've ever known and also good for you!

You may be better off with the crispness of halogens then if you want bright.

For brightness you may be better off with a fluorescent; i.e. energy saving bulb. Take a look at this one http://www.bltdirect.co.uk/item617.htm
That's an 85watt fluorescent that gives light output equivalent to a massive 465 watts. If you go for a standard incandenscent, it's going to get very hot. 200W is about the most I have seen with a standard fitting (BC) but you can get up to 500W here http://www.lightbulbs-direct.com/products_by_category.asp?ProdID=1
though that has an extra large edison screw fit; however you may be able to get an adapter? I've certainly got adapters to convert standard edison screw to bayonet.
  • Those daylight bulbs seem to be the ones - They look to be really bright if the 465 Wattage equivalent is true!

Will they impart "Seasonal Affective Disorder" on me as I currently don't suffer from it thought? As in will it effectively "fix something that is not broken" and make me more succeptible or sensitive to this disorder?

Make sure you have not exceeded the lampholder capacity eg/ if you have a shade or surface within close proximity of your light bulb.

shouldn't impart anything on you other than bright light :D ! re previous msg, as long as your lamp holder is OK up to 100W you should be fine, however do note the dimensions of this bulb, I seem to remember it is quite long.
