If the customer had successfully claimed on say unemployment, but then tried to claim again for accident and sickness but was unsuccessful the fact that they used the unemployment cover shows it was useful to them.

It may be possible to get a refund with the above situation, but there would probably have to be other factors involved to make any difference to the fact that the cover was useful for at least one out of the however many types of cover it offered.

Cheers for confirming this Mel, I was curious on this one.:T;)

I see these kind of complaints everyday...best ones are the one that say "I didn't know I had it" and then we find out they claimed on it and got money back...all the while "not knowing they had it". :rotfl:

I was speaking to a complaints handler for an IFA network, in a meeting not too long back, and he reckoned that try-it-on complaints account for around a quarter to a third of complaints that they get nowadays.

The focus of that part of the meeting was not about giving good or bad advice but protecting yourself from fraudulent complaints and claims.

People go on about corrupt and greedy banks and corruptand greedy MPs but a good chunk of the general public themselves are just as bad.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

With PPI complaints, my best bit of advice to advisors is if you sell a policy file your paperwork properly, fill in EVERYTHING that needs to be filled in properly and NEVER put crosses or marks next to where the customer is to sign.

Anything else that could cause a PPI complaint to be sucessful is generally down to the companies failures with their policies/procedures and systems.

I was only asking, no need for some of these harsh remarks.

It wouldn't be right morally to claim the PPI back if you've already used it.
