Is it possible to reclaim PPI if you've used it?

By used it, I mean taken advantage of it? I was off work for 9 months having had cancer and my payments were met, on both my Lloyds and Cap1 credit cards and my Lloyds loan. I can't imagine that I'd be able to claim, but if anybody wishes to correct me they can.
Also, if you currently have PPI, will this make them end it and therefore meaning you're not covered?

Hi there
So sorry to hear of your health issues and hope your fine now.;)
In regards of PPI, if this was sold to you when you already had this condition then you would probably not be able to make a claim on this actual illness.
They do not normally cover for pre-existing med conditions.
If you had this health problem after, I take it its okay and you should be able to claim.
They do not stop this cover, as for unemployment reasons this could cover you for that.
But if you think the policy is worthless to you, you can try to reclaim on this just as long as you've not had a successful claim, for example for unemployment/sickness etc.
For more info on reclaiming, check this link here with letter reclaim templates:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
Write in your own reasons on the template letter.
They have 8 weeks to respond in full.
In the final response, if your not satisfied with the outcome of the complaint, they give details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS).
Post all letters by recorded delivery, good luck and post up for help when required.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

When people complain, they are doing so on the basis that the PPI wasnt suitable for them and wouldnt pay out. You have claimed and have been paid out.
So, what basis would your complaint be?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Thanks to both of you. Dunstonh, that's why I posted the original post, to ask if I could. If I were to complain, I'd complain that nobody told me that they only covered you for 12 months, for a start.0

They probably did tell you that they would only cover you for 12 month, especially in the policy booklet which has full details of all the terms and conditions of the cover.
If you did claim and were successful they would most likely reduce your refund by what they paid out when you claimed.0 -
This is a prime example of claims-culture gone mad.0

"oh dear":o oops lmao :rotfl:
Just curiosity though, say if they could claim on the one but not the other where would that person stand in this case?, for example claimed for unemployment - so a claim was successful for this, but not for sickness?
I know they would obviously be aware they had the cover if this was the case, so not mis sold on that area.
I know that some offer ASU or just for the one but some of them count for them all in one sort of thing..such as "Life cover" which is all in one for life/Unemployment/Sickness, so they would be paying the full whack of this within the loan repayments, but one of those may not cover them??The one and only "Dizzy Di"

If the customer had successfully claimed on say unemployment, but then tried to claim again for accident and sickness but was unsuccessful the fact that they used the unemployment cover shows it was useful to them.
It may be possible to get a refund with the above situation, but there would probably have to be other factors involved to make any difference to the fact that the cover was useful for at least one out of the however many types of cover it offered.0
