I'd read some comparative reviews in the press, PC Pro just reviewed two top end phones an HTC and Nokia, worth a read in the current issue. Windows OS isn't the best in phones to say the least, Google is making inroads with Android, Apple's is great, as is Symbian, other custom OSes make the grade too.0

They are great if you want a small PC.
As a phone for calling and texting they dont work to well.
They are more PDA's than phones tbh.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
I've got a Samsung Omnia with WM6 and have downloaded quite a bit of software from freewarepocketpc (sorry, I'm not allowed to post a link!)
The official Microsoft site is at microsoft.com/windowsmobile and has some good info. They're also due to launch an app store like Apple's in the near future which could be interesting - again can't post a link, but Google if if you're interested.
I've not used an iPhone much, but still agree with the other poster that their o/s is probably better. However, there's more to consider and it really depends what sort of software you want to use - being MS, Windows Mobile syncs very well with Outlook and Windows Live for example so if you already use them at home/work that might be enough to swing it.
Alternatively, if you use Apple then go for an iPhone I'd say. Its all about the compatability between devices for me.0 -

What do you mean?
I would say they work just as well as a normal phone does for calling and texting, but with added features like WiFi and GPS etc.
Customising your WM phone is endless! Check out Xda Developers. You can do things like replace ROM's and upgrade your radio etc.
I currently have a HTC P3600, with a really nice ROM, similar to the new HTC Touch HD one! I am also in the process of upgrading my Radio so I can use the GPS feature with TomTom which I have sitting waiting. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

I think you need to try some of the competition to realise just how much Win Mobile has stagnated, MS again taken eye off the ball. I still use it on a feature rich PDA, because I need it to sync with Outlook, but I'd not choose it for another device personally.0

Windows Mobile just seems so... bloated by comparison.
On my Symbian Sony w960i I get the same problem - usually it's just used for calling & texting - but due to all the other features it just isn't as quick as i'd like and the sluggishness gets annoying.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
MS has never really made a proper phone front end, leaving the phone manufacturers themselves to build a nice front end.
And frankly unless recently they have been pretty naff, but HTC, LG and samsung are finally coming out with nice user interfaces and the new wm 6.5 interface does look very nice.
I think they are a lot better if you're more technically minded. but less good if you want a simple 'it just works' phone.0 -

Fair enough... If all you need is to call and text and perhaps the odd game/app then I would agree with you but if youre a Business user, like myself, I would say WM is the way to go!
e.g I was out informally on Saturday, saw a potential supplier and needed to check the prices online. Couldn't get to a PC quick enough so rushed to Mc Donalds, whipped out my trusty trinity and got the prices up within a couple of mins on Mc Donalds' free WiFi... I could of probably connected to 3G, but I had the wrong SIM in

Don't use windows on your phone. I already went 3 times to the service with my Nokia. I lost all my excel work on one week, luckily I was smart enough to save it on my mail.0
