Hi,
Last year I cleared the wi-fi settings from the wii so it couldnt be connected to the internet (long story) anyway, today when we have gone to set it all up again, I cant seem to get it connected to the wi-fi. Nothings changed - ie, same router, same provider, same everything but when we input all the details it says that the test has failed and an error code etc...I cant understand it but do wonder if by having clear it, can it never be connected to that connection again???? Anyone any ideas - thanks

Have you changed your password? have you selected the correct security type?
I don't think clearing the settings should make any difference to you connecting it back up again. Its usually something obvious that you'll kick yourself over! At least, it always is with me!Mortgage £120K, monthly overpayment £600, 18 years and £100K saved0 -

thanks for your reply....no nothing has changed since last time - that is what has me baffled
im usually pretty ok with things like that but ive run into a brick wall lol....i was thinking maybe i could just reset the whole console but when i clicked that it warned me that settings would be lost forever and couldnt be retreived? or used again or something - wondering if that also means the same internet settings ??????? If you definitely haven't altered the SSID, encryption type or password and are certain that it has all been entered correctly (don't forget that this stuff is case sensitive and Fred is not the same as fred etc.) then the only setting left that I can think of is whether or not the router has been set to allow connections automatically. It may be that you set it up so that only "known" devices can connect and removed the Wii from the allowed MAC list.

One more thing - if you don't use WiFi for anything else it may be that another network has appeared on the same channel or even that the WiFi on the router is bust. Do other WiFi connections work?0 -

thanks kwikbreaks  no nothing has been altered as far as passwords SSID etc...my laptop, my partners work laptop (which also uses VPN?) , the printer, the wi-fi internet radio and the psp
all found the router when needed and all work fine wirelessly off it....thats why im so baffled...the Wii finds the router fine when it does an auto search for it and then i put in the password etc...one thing though - the last setting is a 3 or 4 letter setting starting with M i think and in the box beneath is a zero which looks like it can be changed - ive left it as zero?? maybe im meant to put 1 or something in there?? i know ive written that very vague but its the last setting after doing security setting - proxy setting etc...:o 'Normal' is a dryer setting.0
