    Ah customer once tried to be clever and asked me for a list of cost incurred. I gave him a list as long as his arm and kept his £100.

    Write it off as experience and get on with your life, imo you have next to no hope of getting it back. If by some miracle you did find some way to do it i would still say the stress had not been worth it.

    The point of a deposit is you (the customer) saying "I want this car, take it off sale and turn away any other people who show interest..."

    So they are well within their rights to keep all of the deposit and take you (the customer) to the small claims court to recover costs such as loss of business etc.
